Deputy Prime Minister for Labour, Education, Health and Social Affairs Srđan Pavićević and Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth and Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić met today with Turkish Ambassador Barış Kalkavan, where it was stated that it is necessary to improve cooperation between the two countries.
This was announced by the Public Relations Service of the Government of Montenegro.
Pavićević said at the meeting that there are numerous projects and investment plans that have been represented and promoted by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye for a long period of time, and which, he added, concern investments in the education and health system of Montenegro.
“Ambitious initiatives and plans must be transformed into sustainable and mutually beneficial projects in the coming period.”
During the conversation, it was noted that the presence of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Türkiye, the Istanbul Stock Exchange, Zirat Bank and over 5 registered companies with Turkish capital in Montenegro obliges us to long-term strategic planning in all areas, it is added, of interest. for mutual cooperation, capacity building and market expansion, which includes an offer for the entire Balkans.
“At the meeting, it was also assessed that one of the pressing problems is the lack of qualified workforce, which will be even more pronounced in the period of faster accession to the EU. In order to support the better integration of Turkish residents and the business community in Montenegro, Vice President Pavićević expressed his full readiness to enabling classes for children in the Turkish language,” it was announced.
In a separate meeting, Šćekić said that the Republic of Türkiye and Montenegro already have a number of agreements which, to their mutual satisfaction, have contributed to the realization of many important projects.
“We are pleased that there is a desire and will to continue this cooperation in the future through even more concrete projects, it was assessed at the meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth and the Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Dad Šćekić and the Ambassador of Türkiye to Montenegro Barış Kalkavan. The meeting was opportunity for Ambassador Kalkavan to familiarize himself with the priorities of the work of the 44th Government, wishing Vice President Šćekić successful work in his new position with wholehearted support and help in further action,” the statement of the Public Relations Service of the Government of Montenegro states.
Šćekić said that everything that contributes to the better position of our fellow citizens will be our mission in the future, because, he added, we want to provide young people with better conditions so that they want to stay and create in their country.
“Until now, we have had very good and successful cooperation with the TIKA agency from Türkiye, and I believe that we will continue in that direction. From this position, I must emphasize that it will be very important for me to invest in every corner of Montenegro in order to improve the conditions lives of our citizens and the youth staying in those areas”, said Vice President Šćekić.
In the part of demography, Šćekić said, we will deal with the segments of health, education, infrastructure and employment of young people.
“Ambassador Kalkavan expressed satisfaction that the governments of the two countries will continue cooperation and conveyed the special interest of the Minister of Sports and Youth of Türkiye for Montenegro. He also announced friendly football and water polo matches on May 19, when Türkiye celebrates Sports and Youth Day.” it is stated in the announcement.

Kalkavan reminded, the announcement states, that since the establishment of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro, which immediately began to create results, new ideas were created, the realization of which could easily be achieved by joint efforts, such as the opening of a new hospital, the Faculty of Medicine , Secondary tourism schools….
“All these are segments closely related to the areas that my team will deal with in this mandate of the 44th Government of Montenegro.
